Sir William McTaggart PPRSA RSW
On graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in the early 1920s he studied under Lhote in Paris before returning to start a studio with Crozier and later Gillies. He was a founder member of the 1922 Group and joined the Society of Eight in 1927. McTaggart had a truly international outlook, absorbing most of the advances in Expressionism before the Second War.
