Alexander Goudie RP

Born in Paisley and trained at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson, Goudie became one of that city’s best known twentieth century portrait painters. His robust ‘swagger’ portraits harked back to the Spanish masters, his sitters included Lord Chancellor McKay, Billy Connolly and HM The Queen for the Caledonian Club in London. He married a Breton girl and began a life long fascination with Brittany exploring the area through paintings and ceramics.
