Andrew Macara RBA NEAC

Born in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, Andrew has lived and worked in Derby most of his life. Although largely self taught he did study briefly under Leonard Fuller at the St Ives School of painting. He has exhibited widely at the Mall galleries, winning the de Lazlo Medal in 1985 and at the Discerning Eye as Peter Palumbo's choice. Derby Museum and Art Gallery held a major exhibition of his work in 1992. He produced a series of paintings for Sir Anthony & Lady Bamford for Heron Bay, Barbados, a commission for the Head Quarters of the Hilton Hotel Group and six paintings of each of the party conference towns for Portcullis House in Westminster. Andrew's numerous awards around the country have been selected by jurers as diverse as Brian Sewell and Anish Kapoor.
